Use your own sticker in Instagram Stories, TikTok and Snapchat
Instagram Stories, TikTok and Snapchat find stickers through GIPHY. How to turn a video into a transparent GIPHY sticker and get it into their sticker search.
Instagram Stories, TikTok, Snapchat and many other apps don't upload stickers from your phone. Their sticker search comes from GIPHY. So the route is: make a transparent GIF, upload it to GIPHY, then find it in the app.

1. Make the sticker
- Open your video at gifnobg.com and let the AI remove the background.
- Trim it to a short loop and add a White outline so it stands out on any photo.
- Press Download sticker and choose GIPHY. See Make a GIPHY sticker for details.
2. Upload it to GIPHY
Sign in at giphy.com, choose Upload and add your GIF. GIPHY recognises the transparent background and treats it as a sticker. Add a few tags: they become the words people search for.
3. Find it in the app
How your sticker can be found depends on your GIPHY account:
- Upgraded channels (a GIPHY Creator or Brand channel, which you apply for) can appear in GIPHY's search and in the apps that use it, such as Instagram Stories and TikTok. GIPHY asks for at least five original uploads before you apply.
- Regular accounts: GIPHY says stickers made with its own sticker apps can be found by searching @yourusername. Otherwise, share your sticker by its GIPHY link.
GIPHY's rules: getting stickers into search, Creator channels.
