Frequently asked questions
Is GifNoBg really free?
Yes. There's no account, no watermark and no limit on how many stickers you make.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything — background removal, editing and export — runs inside your browser on your own device. Your video never leaves it.
How do I make a transparent GIF from a video?
Choose a video (or drop it on the page). The AI finds the person, pet or object and removes the background on every frame. Check the Sticker view, tap anything that needs fixing, pick a style and press Download sticker. On a phone it's four steps: Trim → Cut out → Style → Save.
Can I remove the background from a GIF?
Yes. Open an animated GIF the same way as a video. A video usually gives cleaner edges, because GIFs only have 256 colours to start with.
Which videos can I use?
Anything your browser can play: usually MP4, MOV and WebM, plus animated GIFs. Short clips work best — stickers are meant to be a few seconds long, so trim to the part you need.
Bits of background are left over — how do I fix them?
Choose Remove and tap the leftover area; choose Add and tap a part that went missing. Each tap only changes the part you tapped and follows it through the whole clip. If there are two people and you only want one, tap the other one with Remove. Undo and Start over are right there. For one stubborn frame, use Fix a frame and brush over it.
Does it work with a green screen or a plain wall?
Yes — plain coloured walls are detected and cleaned up automatically. For a green screen, switch on Advanced and choose Pick colour under Background, then click the background colour.
Can I add an outline or shadow?
Yes. Under Pick a style you can add a white or coloured outline, dots or dashes, a glow or a shadow — the classic sticker look. Plain keeps just the cut-out.
How do I make a WhatsApp, Discord or Slack sticker?
When you download, pick where the sticker is going: GIPHY sticker (GIF), WhatsApp (WebP, 512×512), Discord sticker (APNG), Slack emoji, Discord emoji, a plain Chat GIF or High quality. Each one is sized to fit that app's limits.
Can I trim, reverse or speed up the clip?
Yes. Drag the yellow handles on the timeline to trim, and use Reverse and the speed button under it. Fewer frames make a smaller file.
Why do GIF edges look a bit jagged?
GIF pixels can only be fully see-through or fully solid — there's no in-between. That's why borders and shadows are solid. An outline style hides the jaggies nicely.
I can't see my shadow.
A dark shadow is hard to see on the dark checkerboard. Switch the preview background to white using the small swatches above the sticker.
Are there any limits?
Videos can be up to 500 MB, 10 minutes long and 4K resolution, and a sticker can be up to 30 seconds. Very large stickers may be too much for some devices — if so, shorten the clip or lower the size or frame rate.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in a modern mobile browser. Long or high-resolution clips take longer on phones, so trim to the part you need first.
Why is the first run slower?
The AI models are downloaded the first time. After that your browser keeps them, so it starts much faster.

Terms of Use
GifNoBg is a private tool for turning your own videos into stickers. Please use it responsibly.
1. What GifNoBg is
GifNoBg converts video clips into transparent GIF, WebP and APNG files inside your web browser. It is not a hosting or sharing service: we don’t receive, store, review or publish your videos or the stickers you make.
2. Accepting these terms
By opening a video in GifNoBg you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
3. Your content and your responsibility
You are responsible for the videos you use and for anything you make and share. Only use videos you have the right to use, and only show people who have agreed to it. The apps and sites where you post stickers have their own rules, which you must follow too.
4. What you must not do
You must not use GifNoBg to create, edit or prepare:
- Any child sexual abuse material, or any sexual or sexualised content involving anyone under 18 — including drawn, edited or AI-generated material.
- Intimate or sexual images of a real person without their consent, including “deepfakes”, voyeuristic recordings and so-called revenge porn.
- Content meant to harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or humiliate someone, or to incite violence or hatred against people.
- Content that exploits people unlawfully — for example trafficking, sextortion, scams, impersonation or exploiting someone’s image commercially without permission.
- Content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademarks, privacy or other rights.
- Anything else that is illegal where you live or where you share it.
5. Reporting abuse
Because everything stays on your device we can’t see or remove content you make. If you come across child sexual abuse material anywhere, report it to the Internet Watch Foundation (UK), the NCMEC CyberTipline (US) or your local police. If someone is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. Intimate images shared without consent can be reported via StopNCII.org.
6. Open-source parts
GifNoBg uses open-source components (ONNX Runtime, U²-Net, MobileSAM, MediaPipe, MP4Box.js) under their own licences. Those licences apply to those components: U²-Net (Apache 2.0), MobileSAM (Apache 2.0), MediaPipe Selfie Segmentation (Apache 2.0), ONNX Runtime Web (MIT) and MP4Box.js (BSD-3-Clause). GIPHY, WhatsApp, Discord and Slack are trademarks of their owners; their names are used only to describe export formats and GifNoBg isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by them.
7. No warranty
GifNoBg is provided free and “as is”. We don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or suitable for a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of your videos. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be excluded.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. The date below shows the latest version; continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
9. Who we are
GifNoBg is run by GifNoBg (trading name), contact: hi@gifnobg.com. You can reach us through the Contact form. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales; if you live elsewhere in the UK or in another country, you keep any protections your local law gives you.

Privacy
Short version: your videos stay on your device.
What happens to your video
GifNoBg processes everything in your browser. The videos you open, the video frames, cut-outs and edits, and the stickers you export are never uploaded, logged or sent to us or to anyone else. Frames are held only in your browser’s memory while you work and are discarded when you open another video or close the page.
No content scanning
The AI models only separate the subject from the background, on your device. Nothing analyses, classifies or reports what your videos contain.
What we don’t do
No accounts, no sign-up, no cloud storage, no public sharing, no cookies, and no tracking or advertising pixels.
What is kept in your browser
To start faster next time, your browser keeps a copy of the AI models (about 50–80 MB) in its own storage. It also remembers four small settings: which background colour you chose for the preview, and whether your device can use the GPU or the smaller tap model. None of this contains your videos, and none of it is sent to us. You can delete it any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Usage counts
To know how GifNoBg is used, the site counts page visits and app events such as “a video was opened” or “a GIF sticker was made” (with the format, size preset, device type, country and the website you came from). These counts never include your video, frames, file names or anything you type. We don’t use cookies for this and don’t store your IP address. Your IP address and browser type are combined with a secret value into a one-way code that changes every day and every month. That lets us count visitors without knowing who you are or following you across days. Because the code is made from your IP address, data-protection law treats it as pseudonymous personal data, so we tell you about it here. We use it on the basis of our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the app, and keep the counts for about 13 months.
What does get downloaded
The app and the open-source AI models it uses are downloaded to your browser from our host, Cloudflare. Like any website, Cloudflare keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and time of request) to deliver and protect the site. These logs never contain your videos.
Contact form
If you write to us, your name, email address, subject and message are stored in our site’s database at Cloudflare, together with your country and device type (phone or computer), so we can read your message and reply from hi@gifnobg.com. We use them only to answer you and don’t add you to any list. Messages are deleted when we no longer need them, and after 12 months at the latest. To limit spam, a one-way code made from your IP address is kept for a day; the IP itself isn’t stored.
Ratings
After you download a sticker you can rate the result and, if you like, say what went wrong. This is optional. We receive the stars, the issues you tick, your comment, the sticker format and size preset, how long the cut-out took, your country and device type (phone or computer) — never your video, the sticker or its file name, and no name or email. We use it only to improve GifNoBg and delete it after 12 months at the latest.
Children
GifNoBg has no accounts and never receives your videos. The only personal data we handle is the usage code above and what you choose to send through the contact form or a rating.
Who is responsible, and your rights
GifNoBg is run by GifNoBg (trading name), contact: hi@gifnobg.com. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Cloudflare hosts the site and handles this data for us as our processor. Under UK data-protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to how we use it. Write to us through the Contact form or at hi@gifnobg.com. If you’re unhappy with our answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes
If this changes — for example if we add advertising — we’ll update this page first and ask for any consent the law requires.
